Robert Lustig MD, revealed that sugar is addictive to the human brain as cocaine setting up the same dopamine triggers forcing you to crave more foods. The first thing you should do is to start reducing sugar!
Sugar eats your body from within, first attacking the stomach along with the entire gastrointestinal tract slowly destroying the body from the inside out.
1776 -> 4 lbs (1.8kg) per person/year
1850 -> 20 lbs (9kg) per person/year
1990 -> 120 lbs (54.4kg) per person/year
Now -> 156 lbs (70.7kg) per person/year
In America heart disease between 1900-1950 had increased 30 % which was up to three times in only 50 years.
In the 1950’s American physiologist Ancel Keys blamed a high-fat diet for the causes of cardiovascular heart disease recommending that fat should be avoided.
In 1956 the public was informed that fats such as butter, lard, fatty foods including eggs, cheese and beef could lead to heart disease. Based on these studies the government recommended that people should start eating a low-fat diet to prevent health problems.
So this information was pushed out to the public causing a mass hysteria of people clamoring to get their hands on to fat free and low-fat products sacrificing taste in most cases pretty much leading to temporary results when it comes to health and weight loss.
Unfortunately most low fat products are high in carbs/refined sugars which can lead to diabetes, and heart disease amongst other complications. The food industries and many doctors are very much aware of the dangers of sugar. Studies from the 1800’s have proven that sugar is pretty much a toxin. Sugar has even been fed to farm animals due to it’s cheap accessibility. Later results have shown that many of the livestock ended up with unnecessary health issues and unexpected deaths. Sugar primarily seemed to be the definite cause of such results.
In 1957 E.V. McCollum published a book called “A History of Nutrition: The Sequence of Ideas in Nutrition Investigations” it’s about the flawed experiments in the 1800’s mostly due to human error. As a scientist back then it was too expensive to publish a book, so it was published and marketed by Nutrition Foundation, Inc.
The Nutrition Foundation has been funded by companies such as: The American Sugar Refining Company, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Curtiss Candy Company, General Foods, General Mills, Nestlé, Pet Milk Company and Sunshine Biscuits just to name the least.
The book became a complete success seemingly encouraging people to consume even more sugary products, on top of that the food companies even used more sugar within their products!
Later on the food companies cleverly created new names for sugar so that the average consumer couldn’t detect it while reading the food label.
Names sugar goes by are:
- Agave nectar
- Brown rice syrup
- Evaporated cane juice
- High-fructose corn syrup
- Malt syrup
They created a new slogan (made from natural ingredients). The thing is… all refined sugars are made from natural ingredients, so is cocaine and heroin!
In the 70’s sugar foods slowed down but of course conglomerates had prepared and developed artificial sweeteners the major one is aspartame, it’s used in many products from sodas to Equal and NutraSweet just to name a few. After about 16 years aspartame was eventually approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) but not before undergoing investigation for fraudulent studies.
For the first time in history the FDA sought criminal investigation into a food manufacturer for misrepresenting the safety tests of a product. They revealed deceased lab animals from tests that were not autopsied for months or years after their deaths so that rotting would render any tumor data inaccurate, other animals were found to have tumors cut out and thrown away altogether, the animals with removed tumors were labeled as normal.
We have all the proof that aspartame is toxic, the reason why it isn’t banned are corruptions within politics! Research former U.S. Congressman and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in regards to aspartame and then the hmmmm or your questioning will begin. After one concludes their research, you will discover that aspartame is basically a legalized bioweapon for the masses.
Sugar Is Poison – How Bad Is It
Is sugar the new fat? No, because there are plenty of healthy fats! Sugar is just not healthy at all. We would say sugar is the new tobacco…addictive!
The recommended daily sugar consumption based on The American Heart Association are:
- For women 6 teaspoon/day. 1 teaspoon is 4g of sugar, that means it’s 24g sugar
- Men can consume 9 teaspoon/day = 36g/day
- Children from 2-18 / 6 teaspoons/day = 25g/day
Statistically, every American consumes around 5.5 ounces (156 g) of sugar a day, 3 pounds (1.4 kg) a week, 13 pounds (5.9 kg) a month and 156 pounds (70.7 kg) a year.
A little bit of sugar is no problem, but a lot of sugar can kill you slowly.
Worldwide up to 35 million people indirectly fall ill due to their sugar consumption every year, according to a study carried out by a team led by Robert Lustig.
Sugar is added in our food everyday without us even realizing it, stimulating the same areas in the brain as alcohol or nicotine.
The reasons why sugar is toxic is that it can cause a fatty liver, cell aging and interfere with your brain’s functioning in regulating how much we need to eat.
So how much sugar do we need? Is reducing sugar another option? You won’t like to hear it, but the answer is 0! There are no biological processes in the body that require dietary sugar. Your liver has a capacity to metabolize a finite amount already.
Sugar isn’t just about added or free sugars but also comes complements of refined carbohydrates which are quickly converted to blood sugar.
Here are 9 symptoms that you’re eating too much sugar:
- Bad skin
Sugar can accelerates the formation of wrinkles, it also leads to dry skin, redness, pimples and acne.
- Craving sweet foods
Snacking high carbs won’t help stopping cravings, you will have more appetite for more and it can cause long-term overweight.
Although sugar provides a rapid energy boost, the blood sugar level also drops again quickly. However, the body is overwhelmed with the large amount of glucose and cannot use the energy properly. When the low is reached, the exhaustion is only still larger.
- Frequently ill
Sugar weakens the immune system you will often get a cold, migraine, headaches, etc.
High blood sugar can leads to irritability, moody, and can also be responsible for Depression.
- Lack of concentration and energy
If you give up sugar, you will have a clearer mind and more energy, Those that practice Keto such as ourselves can attest to these beneficial facts! 🙂
- Muscle and joint pain
Sugar will hyper irritate the muscles and causes joint pain. It can also lead to osteoarthritis. Also sugar can cause inflammation of the joints in and throughout the body in General.
- Poor digestion
Sugar damages the intestinal flora like diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, stomach cramps if you have high blood sugar levels.
- Tooth decay
Sugar creates decay more than any other food substances.
Why Is Sugar in Every Food?
According to food technologist, sugar is cheap and it is often used to rebalance the cost of a product, for example they reduce the oil from an oil-based dressing and add sugar because oil is an expensive ingredient.
The food industry has increased sugar dosing more and more over the past century, especially within the past 30 years, they’ve found by doing so consumers bought and consumed exceptionally more. Since they are making money there’s no reason to stop, the only thing that can stop them is that we the consumers change our lifestyle of eating!
Foods with sugar are cheap and taste very good, it’s hard to skip it for even a week, due to the fact that most of us are sugar addicts without even knowing it!
What does the food industry say about Robert Lustig when he proves the toxicity of sugar.
They claim he exaggerates the role of sugar, they claim his comments are melodramatic and hysterical. They even claim that academics around the world will say that Lustig is raising the issue about consuming too much sugar but to say sugar is toxic and sugar as a poison as a standalone statement is patently untrue.
According to them, the issue it’s not the sugar or the fat it’s everything, like eating too much or not enough exercise.
The conclusion is, the food industry doesn’t appear to care as to who or what or how they sell, they’re just focusing on their profits therefore selling consumers unhealthy junk foods of all sorts. The sad thing is, they are selling products that continue to hurt people in the long run WORLDWIDE. Money seems to be their primary focus…nothing more…nothing less.
Why isn’t the Government taking considerable action in regards to these sad facts! Maybe we just presented a stupid question, we can only shake our heads… per usual.
How Bad Is Sugar
Too much sugar causes weight gain, deteriorates teeth and can cause dangerous type 2 diabetes. The late effects of the metabolic disease can include visual disturbances and loss of limbs. But this is by no means a complete list of all possibilities of sugar damage.
Many people have chronic illnesses such as diabetes. In 2015 468’000 Americans were hooked up to have their blood cleaned and purified by dialysis machines, the poor fact is the rate is going up by 10% each year.
A typical dialysis schedule is 3 sessions per week, for 3-5 hours per session.
Dialysis is a very expensive business with a very high requirement of staff costing around $89’000 per patient annually in the United States, all in one it costs the States $42 billion yearly, and that’s just the cost of dialysis alone! Many patients with diabetes have other problems in as which excludes additional costs, causing a huge burden on the healthcare system.
Sweets, chocolates, soft drinks and juices are causing children dental health issues.
Almost 43’000 children under 18 in England were having their teeth extracted between 2016-2017 which was 170 a day and it’s increasing every year.
Hmmm another lucrative business (Dentistry).
Sugary drinks are the number 1 source of sugar for the majority of people on the planet, it can even be cheaper than water. Often poorer people consume the most of these terrible high carb so called soft drinks. Ha! Can you believe it! Soft drinks…more like HARD DRINKS on your liver and kidneys truth be told, we can only shake our heads again, surprised that we still have our necks on our shoulders in doing so…ugh.
Too much sugar can cause diseases like:
- Blood pressure goes up
- Damaged the brain
- Fungal infestation
- Hair loss
- Heart diseases
- High risk of MS (Multiple sclerosis) because of lack of immune system
- Menstrual cramps
- Sleep problems
- Skin issues
Fructose Is The Most Dangerous Sugar
Studies have shown that fructose is more dangerous than table sugar.
Fructose is also a component of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) it’s a sugar alternative originally from the USA, it’s super cheap and it‘s in all processed food which manufacturers make from corn and most corn used to produce it is genetically modified.
HFCS is mainly used to sweeten foods. In addition to lemonades and soft drinks, these also include sauces, ready-made pizzas, canned fruits, cereals, yoghurts, ice cream and sweet pastries.
For energy source your cells doesn’t need fructose they use glucose or ketones.
Most people don’t know that the effects of high fructose corn syrup is similar to ethanol or alcohol so the body treats it like alcohol, this is one of the reasons why it’s very toxic and is the worst of all carbohydrates to consume.
100% fructose is metabolized by the liver, a lot of people consume a high amount of fructose on a regular basis, which can overwhelm the liver very fast, it can cause a fatty liver, which is linked to an early death, heart disease, diabetes, weight gain, gout, and also makes you more insulin resistant, it increases inflammation, it spikes the cholesterol, it creates high triglycerides (blood fats) and it can produce an enormous amount of visceral fat which builds and surrounds the gut in and around the organs.
HFCS has a similar effect that alcohol has on the liver and the rest of the body, so think twice if you want to give your child sweets, it‘s basically like giving a child a beer. Now we understand why most of these children are all running around town with sweet little beer bellies (Visceral Fat). We shake our heads once more…
Not Recommended Sugar:
Is an artificial sweetener which are in brands like Equal or NutraSweet.
This sweetener create problems with your microbiome, your microbes, the good bacteria in your gut, it also linked to insulin resistance and it creates other diseases like heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome, etc.
- Agave nectar
It’s low glycemic index, it doesn’t cause your blood sugars to spike as rapidly after eating, it’s one and a half times sweeter than sugar.
Why is it bad? It has 90% fructose, which is the most dangerous sugar and it doesn‘t contain new transfer antioxidants.
- Brown rice syrup, rice malt syrup or rice syrup
It’s actually glucose. It has a higher glycemic index (GI) than regular sugar but will also affect your blood sugar, however it has a negative effect on the liver function.
- Brown sugar
It’s almost equivalent to white sugar.
Is also known as D-Glucose (grape sugar / corn sugar).
You should try cutting down on glucose, try eating a moderate amount of protein and higher amount of fat to get an alternative energy known as ketones circulating in your brain and throughout the body. Dextrose/Carbs or glucose causes rapid rise and falls in blood sugar levels spiking insulin constantly leaving you feeling hungry and unsatiated or unsatisfied.
- High-fructose corn syrup
It includes 55% fructose and 45% glucose, it’s the most dangerous sugar.
- Honey, pasteurized
Pasteurizing honey not only kills the enzymes but also damages a lot of the nutrients within and what you pretty much end up with is processed sugar. Main ingredient is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Pasteurized honey (HFCS) has been linked to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and liver damage.
It’s high in GI, it can make you feel hungry, not good for diabetics, it raises blood, increases insulin, upsets the stomach, diarrhea, gas and bloating.
A waste product from sugarcane and sugar beet, it’s high in sugar only small amounts are ok.
- Raw sugar cane
Is almost equivalent to white sugar, it causes obesity, diabetes, really bad for the gut it destroys the good bacteria.
- Saccharin found in brands such as Sweet’N Low may increase glucose intolerance, which can result in a prediabetic condition.
This artificially produced sweetener creates problems with your microbiome, your microbes, the good bacteria in your gut, it creates the fluid attention, it is linked to insulin resistance, it promotes liver inflammation it also creates diseases such as heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome, etc.
- Sucralose brand like Splenda
This artificially produced sweetener create problems with your microbiome, your microbes, it creates the fluid attention, they‘re linked to insulin resistance, it reduces the amount of good bacteria in your intestines by 50%, increases insulin secretion by the pancreas and creates other diseases like heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome, etc.
Is common sugar: Found in sugarcane or sugar beet, also known as beet sugar, cane sugar, granulated sugar, refined sugar, table sugar or white sugar.
Is a disaccharide made up of 50% glucose and 50% fructose, toxic for your body, highly addictive and causes health problems.
Is a sweetener developed from Cargill and Coca-Cola which is made from 3 ingredients: Erythritol, rebaudioside A and natural flavours. It is not specified on the label what the added flavours are.

Pay Attention To What You Put In Your Stomach
We all know that cakes, cookies, chocolates, soft drinks, candies, etc. have a lot of sugar, but do we know how much of it is within our choices of foods? Below you will see examples of food and drinks that will surprise you.
A short refreshment on how much sugar you can ingest:
Children (2-18): 25g/day
We recommend avoiding sugar altogether or at least reducing a significant amount, you can also use alternative natural sugar substitutes in preparing sweets, sauces, and drinks, etc. There are plenty of recipes on creating the same great tasting sweets, sauces, snacks, etc. that we have all come to love but in a healthier way, you will see after a while that you won’t seem to crave junk foods/drinks anymore.
Fructose in fruits are good to eat if you are not doing keto, it has fiber, it includes all the nutrients, the phytonutrients and the vitamins. Fiber makes you feel full.

Control What You Eat
It‘s very important to check every food label before buying it. We recommend preparing foods by yourself as much as possible, so that you can be sure what you’re eating, try avoiding the purchase of manufactured processed products. Buying natural organic or bio foods are the way to go when it comes to eating and living a healthier lifestyle.
Remember sugar is addictive to the human brain as cocaine according to studies and research, always think twice on what to grab and what to eat. The first step is reducing sugar day by day.
Your body doesn’t need sugar at all actually, based on our personal experience cutting out sugar allows us in feeling so much better, healthier, along with having more energy and the best thing is the anti inflammatory benefits in as which are amazing. Let’s just say this…Sigmund’s knees thank him haha!
So a Brief Recap:
Food industries add more and more sugar to their products because it’s cheap, it all seems to be about the money/profits and the doctors along with dentists are just happy to treat sick patients with their expensive medicines, health tests, expensive machine treatments, etc.
The food industry will always find ways of creating more toxic sugars along with addicting additives guised with new and improved brands of names, but our way of protesting is simply eating natural healthy organic foods instead of processed manufactured junk! Remember we are not dumpsters or rubbish heaps! So it doesn’t make sense to ingest trash into our bodies! We are not doctors, we are two simple human beings that are dedicated in educating our fellow human counterparts in the ways of eating and living a long healthy lifestyle! So share this information to as many people as you can! Let’s be healthy together… always! 😉
Start cutting this toxic food out of your list and treat your body like a temple, you will appreciate it later when you’re older.
