Eat Sugar-Free – Start Cleaning Your Body

Eating sugar-free doesn’t mean you can consume artificial sweeteners.

Sure it won’t affect your blood sugar levels, but it can create problems such as heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and promotes liver inflammation, etc.

Artificial sweeteners are synthetically produced products that are much sweeter than sugar, which means 30 to 3000 times sweeter than sugar.

It can be found mainly in sweet drinks, they have almost no calories and the disadvantage is, they do not saturate, studies have proven that we consume artificial sweeteners even more than regular sugar.

That’s why we don’t use it at all.

A Healthy Life Which Will Payoff

The healthier lifestyle is growing, and more consumers are searching for non-chemical products, organic or natural sugar sweeteners, that won’t affect their health later.

You have to make some effort; it’s worth trying, you may be spending a little bit more money for healthier alternative substitutes.

But in the long run, your body will thank you, and you will feel much better, far less inflammation, along with lots of savings on health bills!

It‘s never too late to start!

How to Choose The Right Sugar Substitutes

You might have the urge for something sweet.

Still, there are many ways to satisfy yourself with different kinds of sweeteners, which are categorized in natural sweeteners often produced from plants, sugar alcohols, synthetic, or artificial sweeteners.

You have to pay close attention; not every product is natural as claimed.

Not knowing what to look for can be overwhelming, see what works best for you. Go through the product description and use the following factors.

For some people, sweeteners with sugar alcohol can cause gas, bloating, diarrhea, or digestive problems, but it doesn’t mean that you’ll experience these issues too; there are more preferable options available.

Good Benefits

Some keto sweeteners have significant benefits, such as a reduction in blood pressure, lower blood glucose and insulin levels, anti-inflammatory, contain fewer calories, and help with dental health.

Keto Sweeteners are a healthier alternative, but as with sugar do not exaggerate with consuming, too much is also not suitable, you may crave for sweets even more.

What to Look for

When buying sweeteners, you should also look out for levels of carbohydrates in the sweetener; you don’t want to overeat and affect your blood sugar levels.

Some substitutes are more for cooking, and others are for baking, but most sweeteners are for both.
Don’t forget always to check if it’s diabetic-friendly if you don’t want to raise your blood, glucose, or insulin levels.

Check Its GI

GI that is the Glycemic Index. The GI measures the level of food or drinks increase your blood sugar, which means, it indicates how high and how fast the blood sugar level rises after the consumption of a particular food.

The best sweetener should have the lowest GI, and better is 0.

Check Ingredients on The packaging

Make sure that it’s Non-GMO, organic, healthy, natural, from clean sources, and that it’s a natural sugar.

As you know, artificial sweeteners like aspartame (Equal or NutraSweet), saccharin (Sweet’N Low), sucralose (Splenda), or Truvia are not good at all.

Look for clean sweeteners, avoid products that contain sweeteners such as maltodextrin, dextrose, or polydextrose.

Don’t be tricked with sugar-free products that have an ingredient such as maltitol; it still has a high GI (Glycemic index).

Last Check

Don’t be shocked if you see high total carbs, always subtract fiber and sugar alcohols when calculating, resulting in net carbs.

Net carbs are the real numbers, especially when it comes to keeping track of your macros (macronutrients).

A lot of these sweeteners have fiber that goes into the digestive system, and your microbes interact with it, if you don’t have the enzymes to break it down or if it’s not going through, it can create a lot of issues.

However, before deciding on the type of sweetener you want to use, you should consider your state of health as some sweeteners are not fit for some health conditions.

The keto-friendly sweeteners listed above are suitable for people with diabetes, and they can, at the same time, prevent the onset of diabetes for those who are at risk.

  1. Dovey

I am glad that I landed on your page. I have just recently been told by my doctor that I am prediabetic. I have been looking for a sugar substitute, but I do not like most of them. The after taste always gets to me.

After reading your review, I am excited to try the couple that you mention have no aftertaste. Although I will be honest, I do not know what a “cooling in the mouth effect” is.

Thank you for doing such a thorough review. I will be sure to read some of your other articles as I have to embrace a whole new lifestyle that I know nothing about.

  2. Lynn

I know what someone with diabetes has to go through as my father is a diabetic. I have to control his diet strictly as he was hospitalized quite often when his diet was out of control. Sometimes, I feel rather guilty stopping him to eat cakes and snacks. I am really inspired by this post to bake cakes for my father using one of the mentioned substitutes! I am mentally prepared for some trial and error!

I am also surprised that Luo Han Guo can be used to make into a sweetener! I know that this fruit tastes rather sweet as my mom always boil the fruit with some water whenever I catch a cold. However, I have never thought that it can be used as a sweetener! I have learnt something new!

  3. lena

Very informative post. I am from china and did know the Luo Han Guo is very good for chronic cough and throat inflammation, but never know it can make it into sweetener. Too much sugar is bad for health, and I like the sweet thing, you post give me the new insight for the sugar substitute.

  4. Kelyee

My husband is diabetic and he is a sugar fiend! We have been looking for a sugar substitute. I am so glad I found your website. It’s so thorough with all sorts of good information about a healthy alternative to table sugar.

My doctor told me I also prediabetic too so I better be careful.

Somehow the monk fruit sounds interesting. I’ll have to check that one out. But I’ll head out to get some stevia in the meantime because that’s everywhere.

It’s funny how something good for you can also be bad for you.

  5. Janet

Im glad I bumped into your site, that’s alot of good information for me since I have been trying to eat healthy and reduce my sugar intake.

Although most of them tend to have these not so pleasant side effects lol! I’m gonna try some of those and hope to get one that fits me.

    Thanks for sharing.

  6. Kenny Lee

Thanks for the list. Been looking to cut off some sugar and yet, without missing too much of the sweetened taste. I’ve been trying out stevia for a while, especially with coffee. Been loving it but I like having options.

  7. suzanne

Hi and thanks for the awesome review.

I’m diabetic and didn’t realize there were so many sugar alternatives. I’ve tried a few in the past, but never enjoyed the after taste.

But some of these seem much newer with great possibilities. I especially like the brown sugar substitute. I really miss adding brown sugar to my oatmeal. I grew up doing that and it’s such a comfort food to me.

The Just Like Sugar product looks great too. It’s so hard to bake with these substitutes, so maybe this one will be much easier to use. Plus the added bonus of fibre. 🙂

    Thanks again,
